Whether you're a seasoned Audio Drama listener, or The Green Horizon is your first, the Audio Drama world is full of amazing shows just waiting for you to listen to. Here are some shows that I would highly reccomend you give a try.
The first is Dos: After You. It's writer and creator, David Orion Pena (Who played Angelo Whin in Season 2) describes his show as "a queer horror bilingual audiodrama that follows Deck, a trans man with a dubious past that travels through Europe searching for the God he has fallen in love with."
Having listened to Dos: After You. I cannot reccomend it enough. The script is excellent, with David given a wonderfully sinister performance, once you begin listening you won't be able to stop.
The second show is The Mistress Files. This show is created by the team at Dramatically Dapper. They describe it as " a new audio drama full of action, mystery, and heart. Follow one woman's rise to infamy. Leading APEP (AH-pep) with her Four Horsemen and the mysterious Mr Six, they will stop at nothing until the world belongs to them."
In my opinion, this show is awesome. The characters are very well written, and interact with each other in an enjoyable way. The sound direction is masterfully done, I never felt lost listening to it. I'm also a sucker for a motley crew of anti-heroes.
The Next show is an absolute hidden gem by the name of Brave New Frontiersman. It's tagline is "Join The Frontiersman in his adventure across the American frontier, a place filled with terrifying monsters, strange magic and opportunists." I mean, I think that speaks for itself. This show is a wonderfully fresh take on the monster hunter genre. The voice acting and sound design is fantastic and the team behind it did an excellent job building a genuinely terrifying world in the age of muskets full of myths, monsters and legends. Also, if you listen to it, you might just hear a familiar voice in a familiar sounding bar!
The last show is Chain of Being. This show is and created and written by Cai Gwylm Pritchard. Cai describes it as " a mythic science fiction podcast which is a glimpse into the future: where gods control the cosmos and mortals are left to fend for themselves in a vast, indifferent universe.
Follow the immortal Adam (of eden fame) as he hunts down an extra-universal threat whilst also confronting his past.
Set in an extensive universe that blends religious fantasy elements with space opera science fiction. All lovingly written and sound designed by an 18 year old student from south london and featuring a range of voice acting talent."
So, this show is incredible. It's like a crazy mix of Lovecraft, Dr. Who and Event Horizon, perfectly blending Cosmic Horror with a mystery thriller that will keep you enthralled the whole way through. Cai has spent years crafting this universe, and you can tell. Every character, faction, location painstakingly fleshed out just asking for you to find out more. Please check it out I cannot reccomend it enough.
Now, there we go.
You're still here? Great!
If you're STILL looking for your audio drama fix, there is an audio drama podchaser list called 'Aural Staycation'. [sighs]
That's it now. That's all the excitment over now. You can go now....Unless there's something else?
Peter: Will there be a season 3?
Yes.
Peter: Sweet. Hey, do you think you could give me more lines next season to talk about my interpretations on art in the 23rd century? Because I've got some notes here-
No.
Peter: Oh.
Stay safe everyone. Thanks for listening.
